I live in the shadows, that place between light and dark. I can live in obscurity without being in total darkness. I can move into the light but retreat when I become too exposed. It is the place that I feel most at home. Always wishing to be in the light, but only safe in the shadows.

Swallowed by the Shadows

The sunlit interior of an airplane being swallowed up by the shadows as the plane banks. Neat effect!

Textures, Shapes, Colours and Shadows

I was fascinated by this picture of a snow drift because it was so all-encompassing. The lines and varied shapes of the drift are fascinating to me, as is the texture of the snow (sometimes pillowy, others times granular). The subtle contrasts of the white snow, the shadows of different shades and the occasional reflection of the sun of the snowflakes make this much more striking than it might first appear. The shadows themselves do so much to add to the complexity and richness of the drift and I have to say, this is really the first time I have truly noticed the different shades of grey in the shadows of one picture.

Untitled

Another amazing shadow pattern provided by the cedar outside of my bedroom window. It never disappoints!

Just a shadow of my former self

Current Shadows

I love this picture. It looks like micro-organisms under the lens of a microscope, but it is really the current of a swimming pool causing disturbances and little shadows as it moves.

Frozen Shadow

Like everything else, even the shadows look frozen in the icy moment

The Wash House (distorted)

Also taken from the inside of my vehicle, The water ripples off the window with the light of the exit door in the background.

The Wash House

The lights of the interior of the car wash create an eerie but beautiful pattern as the sude run down the windshield of my vehicle

Shadow Trilogy: One

The scene is a Japanese print depicting a pair of lovers in their bedroom. The filtered shadow falling across the scene made the print scene seem even more secretive and beautiful than ever.

Shadow Trilogy: Two

As I was taking the picture, my wife told me the light was creating a shadow across the back of my body, so I asked her to take a picture of it.

Shadow Trilogy: Three

As I was standing having my picture taken, I look over my shoulder and some the shadow of my body falling across the doorway. It looked fascinating, so I took the picture.

One position. Three unique shadow pictures.
